4/4- Speed Drills @ Reid Park

Today we had a healthy showing of Raptors.
Steven, Mary, Lisa, Jasper, Tia, Maria, Sue, Christy, and Chris were all ready for speed drills.

After a slightly faster 3 mile run, we ran at top speed for 30 seconds and walked for 1 minute.

Purpose of Speed Drills (Runner's World, 2001):
The purpose of speed-form training is to improve your leg turnover (or stride frequency, as some call it), power, running economy, and relaxation while running. The best way to achieve all this is through a variety of speed drills that you run faster than the workouts in the previous chapters.

Our meeting afterward focused on t-shirts and the value of having a group training together.

Sue said that she enjoys the team encouragement.
Maria knew that she was obligated to go if someone was waiting for you.
Tia feels that the non-competitive environment works best for new marathoners who may not be comfortable in larger groups.

    Overall, we love our Raptors.
    See you on the trail.
